Microsoft Intune — Step-by-Step Deployment Guide

This guide walks through deploying the Deledao Proxy Agent to Windows devices using Microsoft Intune. The proxy agent (MSI) must be installed first, before the proxy configuration profile is applied.

Before you begin

  • Have access to both the Intune admin console and the Deledao Admin Console.
  • Identify at least one target device you can access for verification.

Important: Make sure the proxy agent (MSI FILE) is installed first, before applying the configuration profile (PAC URL).

Step 1 — Deploy the Proxy Agent (MSI App)

Add the Deledao proxy MSI as a line-of-business app in Intune and assign it to the target devices.

  1. In Intune, click Apps, then Windows.
  2. Click the Add button at the top.
  3. Select Line-of-business app, then click Select at the bottom.
  4. To obtain the Deledao proxy MSI installer, contact Deledao support. Once you have the MSI, click Select app package file. When the App package file tab opens, choose the DeledaoProxy MSI, then click OK.
  5. Under Publisher, enter Deledao.
  6. Under App install content, choose Device, then click Next.
  7. Select the group of computers to deploy the proxy to, then click Next.
  8. Click Finish.

Verify the Proxy Agent Installed

Confirm the MSI installed before moving on to the configuration profile.

  1. On a target computer, search the Start menu for apps and open Add or remove programs.
  2. Scroll the installed application list and confirm DeledaoProxy appears. If it does, the proxy installed successfully.
  3. In Intune, you can also check Apps > Windows > Deledao Proxy to confirm the install status shows as installed rather than pending.

Windows AD: If devices are on Windows AD, they can restart the computer to sync the MSI.

Step 2 — Apply the Proxy Configuration Profile (PAC URL)

Create a device restrictions profile that points Windows to the Deledao PAC URL.

  1. Go to Devices > Windows > Configuration.
  2. Under Policies, click + Create > New Policy. In the Create a profile pop-up, select Windows 10 and later.
  3. In the second drop-down, select Templates. In the third drop-down, select Device restrictions. Click Create.
  4. Name the profile Deledao Proxy Settings, then click Next.
  5. Click Network proxy.
  6. Set Use proxy script to Allow.
  7. Obtain the PAC URL by going to your Deledao admin console > Deployment > Windows and Mac > click on the blue URL to copy it. 
  8. Back in Intune, paste the PAC URL into the Setup script address URL field.
  9. Set Use manual proxy server to Allow, then set it to Not configured.

Known bug: Setting Use manual proxy server to Not configured is required — without it, Intune won't advance to the next page.

    10. Click Next.

    11. Select the group of users to apply the proxy to, then click Next.

Note: When a user signs into the Windows computer, they begin using the proxy. If you scope this to users, make sure their computers already have the proxy agent installed.

    12. At Applicability Rules, click Next. At the Review + create step, click Create to save the profile.

    13. Return to Devices > Windows > Configuration and refresh the browser. The Deledao Proxy Settings profile should now appear in the list.

Verify the Configuration Profile

Confirm the PAC URL was applied on the device. This must be checked while signed in as the student/user.

  1. Assign the configuration profile to the target user group, then sign into the same computer as a user from that group.
  2. On the device, search proxy settings and open Network & Internet > Proxy.
  3. Under Use setup script, turn it on and confirm the PAC URL provided by support appears. If it does, the profile was applied successfully.

Sign-in requirement: This verification must be done while signed in as the student/user, not the local admin.
