Summary

Customers upgrading Apple Silicon Macs to macOS 27 must reinstall Rosetta after the upgrade for our macOS proxy/filter to continue functioning. We recommend deploying Rosetta through MDM as part of the macOS 27 upgrade workflow.

NOTE: To ensure continued compatibility with future Apple releases, Deledao is actively developing a native Apple Silicon proxy that will eliminate the dependency on Rosetta.

What's changing?

Apple has documented a change affecting Rosetta during an upgrade to macOS 27. According to Apple's macOS 27 Release Notes, if Rosetta was previously installed, it is not automatically restored after upgrading to macOS 27.

Our current macOS proxy/filter implementation relies on Rosetta to run Intel (x86_64) components on Apple Silicon Macs.

Impact

After an Apple Silicon Mac is upgraded to macOS 27:

  1. Rosetta that was previously installed may no longer be present.
  2. Because the proxy/filter currently depends on Rosetta, filtering may stop functioning.
  3. Rosetta must be reinstalled for the product to continue functioning on macOS 27.

Required action

For organizations managing Apple Silicon Macs:

  • Before upgrading: Add Rosetta installation to your macOS 27 MDM deployment or upgrade workflow.
  • After upgrading: Ensure Rosetta is installed on devices running macOS 27.
  • After installation: Verify that the proxy/filter is functioning normally.

Who is affected?

This issue applies to Apple Silicon Macs being upgraded to macOS 27 where our macOS proxy/filter is installed.

Why is this necessary?

The product currently uses Rosetta to run Intel (x86_64) components on Apple Silicon. The macOS 27 upgrade does not automatically restore a previously installed Rosetta installation, according to Apple's release notes.

Reinstalling Rosetta restores the compatibility layer required by the current implementation.
